Book Synopsis
"Mary Lennox is a 10 year old girl who is quite contrary after her mother and father die of cholera while living in India. She is waxen brazen, rude, and not liked by anyone. She is sent to England to live with her uncle at Misselthwaite Manor, a 100 room mansion secluded on the edge of the moors. Not long after coming to live at the manor, Mary is befriended by a robin, who shows her where to find a buried key that allows Mary to enter a neglected walled garden. Mary learns to love the mansion, and other oddities in the manor including Dickon, a country boy nourished both by love and the of the countryside. Mary also meets Colin Craven, son of the Lord of Misselthwaite, who has not left his room for 10 years, since his mother died while giving birth to him. Even Colin's father, Mr. Craven, can't stand to look at Colin."
